Walking the Overland Track is a remarkable journey that will stay with you for a lifetime. This is an unforgettable trek through a true World Heritage Wilderness Area. Each step you take will enliven your soul and lead you to new discoveries, uncovering some of mother nature’s finest creations. Rest by a cool mountain stream and drink its pure water. Admire the peaceful view of a still lake refl ecting the image of a grand mountain peak. Inspect the delicate growth of a mosaic of cushion plants thriving amongst alpine extremes. Experience the joy and wonder of close encounters with Tasmania’s special wildlife.
We begin at Cradle Mountain trekking south and finishing with a ferry crossing over the dark waters of Lake St. Clair. Waterfalls, Dolerite Mountains, lakes, tarns & diverse ecosystems unfold along the way. This is a moderate, graded trail suitable for first time bushwalkers. We have designed this itinerary so you travel at a relaxed pace allowing us to best appreciate highlights and side trips. It also includes the opportunity for you to conquer the climb up Mt. Ossa - Tasmania’s highest mountain.
No special skills are necessary to walk the Overland Track, motivation to interact with the wilderness and a good level of general fitness is all that you require. Our experienced guides will help to bring the track alive for you with their local knowledge and untamed enthusiasm for the Tasmanian Wilderness.
Day 1 - Commence tour in Launceston 1pm. Travel to Cradle Valley, overnight stay at Black Jack Cabins.
Day 2 - Dove Lake to Waterfall Valley.
Day 3 - Waterfall Valley to Lake Windermere.
Day 4 - Lake Windermere to Pelion Plains.
Day 5 - Pelion Plains to Kia Ora.
Day 6 - Kia Ora to Windy Ridge.
Day 7 - Windy Ridge to Pine Valley.
Day 8 - Pine Valley to Lake St. Clair. Return to Launceston approx 5pm.
